At the suggestion of someone I met at the Downriver Cruise I drove an hour out to Milford to try and find a bike show at someplace called "the Grind". I never did find it, but I did find a weekly bike show at 59 West off M-59 where I pinstriped a Harley Davidson- I did some lettering, Ivory with a red drop shadow that said, in a "back in the day kind of script", "Harley Davidson". The owner of the black motorcycle was very happy with my work, and I think some of the other guys there will be calling me soon. What a great bunch of guys, they were all very polite and kind. One of them is having a big biker party this Saturday and he invited me out to pinstripe at it, how cool is that! I'm very excited.
This morning I'm going to the Park Collision shop here in Hazel Park, MI, to pinstripe a freshly painted car, I'm pretty eager to do it, even though it's a long line (which are really hard to do). Keeping my brush even with pressure and horizontal line for such a length isn't the easiest thing to do, LOL, but I can, and I will! The shop owner, Ray, seemed to be ok with my rate for it, too, sweet! I told him I charge $100 for a single stripe down both sides of a car. Today is going to be a good day :)
I'll try to bring my camera and take some pictures for a change and post them here when I get back.
The long line striping job went well, and I'm doing the owner's helmut and then probably his Ducatti, too, sweet.
I looked at a nice Chevy truck with a short bed, got a sign to letter/paint from Traci and her husband, then Lon came by with his Iphone. I looked like glass, but it's not. I've painted on glass. Whatever it is made of, the paint won't adhere to it. I'm going to try acrylic tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. This is some space age crazy material if enamel won't stick to it! I didn't charge him for it, I want to wait to see if the paint comes off or not, because after five hours, it's still tacky and smearing - it doesn't look good :( After that, Duncan came by and I striped some flames on his T bucket, but only got one side done before it got dark - the car had so much wax/silicone on it nothing I did seemed to wipe it off, it's going to have to be washed a few times. I'm going to finish it up on Friday night. I have pictures, finally, enjoy :)
A busy day all in all, just how I love it.
